Dave Shaffer

Dave Shaffer was the Swing Solution's drummer for about 10 years and is one of the primary reasons this band swings as hard as it does. Dave's an outstanding technician, but his ability to drive a big band is incredible and he was undoubtedly one of the best big band drummers in Silicon Valley.

Dave's been playing the drums for 50-plus years and had extensive experience in his younger days, playing with such name bands as Claude Thornhill, Ralph Flanagan, Ray Eberly, Art Mooney, and Charlie Spivak. He joined The Swing Solution in its early years and saw it develop from a rather typical local swing band into what is now widely considered the best swing band in the Bay Area.

He has a BA in psychology and worked in the computer software business for thirty years before becoming a private investigator and starting his own company. He left the band and Silicon Valley in April, 2001, to move to Charlotte, North Carolina.
